Wesbank Super Series
Bridgestone Production Cars runs with three classes, class A, T and C made up of different manufacturers in various teams runs a three race format on each race day with a reversed grid in race two.
Engen Volkswagen Cup is a one make championship with two classes, one being a masters class for drivers aged over 25.
High performance single seater racing cars, all fitted with 162 kilowatt engines, 5-speed sequential gearboxes, aerodynamic aides, slick tyres.
Two championships run alongside each other, one being the 1000 cc which is the Superbike Championship , the other being 600 cc which is the Supersport Championship.
Two classes of WesBank V8 racing cars have been introduced for the 2010 season. The current class of cars will be known as Super GTs and will feature 6 litre Chev or Ford V8 engines.
Pro Tour
The Altech GT Challenge originates from the Altech Porsche Unlimited Series. This series has run from 2001 in South Africa.It has been hugely successful in bringing together some of the finest and quickest racing cars seen in South Africa.
The Altech Porsche Club 924 series runs on a handicap format since 2002. This means the slowest cars start first and the faster cars start further back.
There are 5 seperate classes which run in the Goldwagen Challenge, classes A, B, C, P and X. It is open to any Volkswagen passenger vehicles
Formula Ford racing has been in South African motorsport since 1968. The Zetec Fords in South African Formula Ford are divided into two sections, open and challenger.
All riders ride basically standard superbikes and engines are sealed. Two classes compete in the Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R Masters. Class A caters for the riders between thirty-five and forty-five years old while B is for forty-five and older.
Shelby CanAm is an American style of racing car which is imported to South Africa. They run Nissan 3.5 V6 engines. It is a single formula class.
Regional Racing
250 Superkart racing has been taking place in South Africa for more than 30 years. Speeds are in excess of 200 km/h and is the only long circuit kart series.
This Forumla Libre series is open to any form of single seater racing car such as Formula V, Formula Ford, Formula Gti and single seater Specials and Classics.
The Lotus Challenge is a race series for Lotus Seven-type cars, divided into classes ranging from full-on racing cars on slick tyres to cars that can be driven on the road.
The Silver Cup series was started in 1991. It is a relatively low budget saloon car series which brings motor racing within the reach of the average enthusiast.
The Super Saloon car series started 35 years ago and has gone through many name changes eg Castrol Clubmans, Castrol Super Saloons and Thundercars.
SuperHatch is a saloon car series for any make of cars with hatchbacks . Essentially it offers a cost effective way to start your motor racing career.
Historic Racing
The Historic Racing Car Register of South Africa (HRCR) was formed in 1973 with the aim of preserving and racing old cars. They run 5 categories, Saloon Cars, Sports and GT, Marque Cars and Classic Thorougbreds.
